The Utah Symphony perform Mozart and Berlioz at Abravanel Hall this April.
Conducted by Thierry Fischer with pianist Yu Kosuge, the full programme is as follows:
- Holt – (commissioned Premiere)
- Mozart – Concerto No. 24 in C minor for Piano and Orchestra
- Berlioz – Symphonie fantastique
Symphonie fantastique or (full English title) Fantastic Symphony: An Episode in the Life of an Artist, in Five Parts is a symphony by French composer Hector Berlioz in 1830 and very important in the early Romantic period. It captures the passion of Berlioz’s love for Irish Shakespearean actress Harriet Smithson who he briefly married.
Concerto No. 24 in C minor for Piano and Orchestra is a classic concerto by Mozart composed in the winter of 1785–1786.
Opening the evening is a world premier by English composer Simon Holt.
There are two performances of these performance at Abravanel Hall, on Friday 26th April and Saturday 27th April, both at 8pm.
