The Utah Symphony perform An American In Paris at Abravanel Hall this March.

An American in Paris is a symphonic tone poem by the American composer George Gershwin.  He wrote it in 1928 after returning from Paris.

Gershwin was on commission from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra when he composed the piece. It’s one of his most well known compositions.

Andrew Grams conducts the Utah Symphony, with the full programme as follows:

  • Gounod – Ballet Music from Faust
  • Copland – Suite from Appalachian Spring
  • Stravinsky – Jeu de cartes, Ballet in Three Deals
  • Gershwin – An American in Paris
